U. Virginia names new chief information officer
The University of Virginia on Wednesday named Kelly Doney, chief information officer of Villanova University in Pennsylvania, as its new CIO.
Doney, who’s also held management and IT roles with Booz Allen Hamilton, Deloitte, Georgetown University and the edtech firm Ellucian, is tasked in her new role with “the planning and delivery of central information technology applications, infrastructure, support, information security and policy, and research computing,” according to a university announcement.
As CIO, Doney will lead an IT organization providing services for a campus and medical center with 28,000 employees and 26,000 students. She succeeds interim CIO Dana German, who took the top IT role on Jan. 1 following the departure of Virginia Evans.
Doney is slated to begin Aug. 14.
