Using clocks to lock data transmission

A research team at Washington University in St. Louis is publishing research on how encrypting information using readings from timers on a chip could protect internet-connected devices from cyberattacks. The chips are also self-powered and much smaller than some traditional encryption hardware. Emily Bamforth has more.

Estimating actual costs for online programs

Online program graduates say they should have done more research on cost and financial aid, according to new survey results from BestColleges.com. The survey also found that about 20% of students said calculating cost was one of their top challenges when choosing an online program.   Emily Bamforth has more details.

"Solarwinds 2.0"

The recent breach at Okta showcases the risks that come with third-party contractors, cybersecurity experts told CyberScoop. The attack on a contractor's laptop potentially compromised 366 customer accounts, Okta announced this week. One expert called the attack a potential "SolarWinds 2.0." Suzanne Smalley reports.

University cyber range in Arizona opens its doors

Ottowa University Arizona is offering up its cyber range, which includes content and tools from vendors like Microsoft and IBM, to governments and businesses. The university used the range to train MBA students on threats and prepare them to serve as a "bridge" between upper managers and cybersecurity workers. Colin Wood reports.
