Schools, universities would get $90 billion in latest relief bill

Democratic leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives released a new relief package in response to the coronavirus pandemic Tuesday that includes $90 billion in funding for schools and colleges to help support education during the pandemic and facilitate distance learning. The proposed funding would cover a wide array of costs institutions are faced with, like edtech and professional development, as well as dollars to cover the costs of technology purchases for students in need. The funding builds on the previous round of relief funding Congress passed in March that made $31 billion available to K-12 and higher education institutions. Betsy Foresman has the details from the proposal.
