Eastern Kentucky names its CIO

Jeff Whitaker, who has been with Eastern Kentucky University for more than two decades, will take over as its new chief information officer, the institution said Wednesday. Whitaker has served a deputy chief information officer at EKU since 2014 and was named its interim CIO last summer. He will now oversee IT services for the university and manage its overall IT plan. As CIO, Whitaker says his goal is to provide students "the best possible experience." Betsy Foresman has more on the hire.

Meet Eden Konja, edtech lover

EdScoop this week named Eden Konja, an information and academic technology director at Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy in Michigan, as one of its five Emerging EdTech Leaders. Konja didn't start in edtech, but once he found it, he said he was hooked. "I just got this bug. I just enjoyed it, and consumed as much as I could,” he told StateScoop. From starting new clubs and competitions to spur interest in STEM to pushing forward innovations in student services, Konja has in the interim made a name for himself.
