Supercomputer for AI study

The University of Florida this week announced plans to build a supercomputer for artificial intelligence research and to prepare students for a workforce that increasingly uses data analytics and software. Built in partnership with the video graphics company Nvidia, the supercomputer will allow students to learn about the different applications of AI and apply their knowledge to future careers to help address issues like climate change, data security and improve industries such as health care and transportation. Workforce challenges

The National Governors Association and the American Association of Community Colleges this week launched a new initiative to identify and arm workers with skills they need to succeed in a workforce reshaped by the pandemic. Members of the network will collaborate on economic and workforce recovery efforts, and develop technical assistance programs, including webinars and facilitated peer-to-peer learning. “Governors across the country have been taking steps to prepare their residents for the jobs of the future, but the COVID-19 pandemic makes this effort much more urgent,” said NGA's Timothy Blute. Endpoint security concerns this CISO

Amid all the changes that the COVID-19 pandemic has introduced to higher education institutions, managing endpoint security is foremost in the mind of the chief information security officer of Arizona State University, she told Scoop News Group in a recent video interview. Beyond technical concerns, Tina Thorstenson said she’s also worried of the cultural aspect of working from home and the risk of burnout for university staff. "In the security space, we have to be really careful that we don’t move so fast as to make mistakes,” she said. Watch the video interview.
