Keep an eye on your users

The key to improving an institution’s cybersecurity posture during the COVID-19 pandemic isn’t about loading up on new tools, but managing users’ workflows and ensuring they continue to be reminded about security best practices, Aaron Baillio, the chief information security officer for the University of Oklahoma, told Scoop News Group in a recent video interview. As the work environment for users evolves, Baillio said his focus has been on studying how they are using data. “We really had to analyze where the data lives, how it moves through those systems and how we want users to access and interact with that data," he said. Utah Valley names new CTO

Utah Valley University has announced that Troy Martin will take over as associate vice president of information technology and chief technology officer for the university. Martin, who worked at Brigham Young University in a variety of IT roles, including senior IT enterprise architect and chief information officer, will begin in his new position on August 3. “I have seen firsthand how digital transformation can improve the educational experience for students and faculty, and I am excited to share my professional expertise and experience at UVU,” Martin said.
