U. New Haven launches esports business online master's

Capitalizing on a growing $1 billion industry fueled in part by the pandemic’s quarantine restrictions, the University of New Haven last month launched an online master’s degree program in esports business. While a handful of well-known universities already offer programs teaching students business skills to enter the competitive gaming industry, administrators at the University of New Haven said their new program is the first master’s degree of its kind in North America and the first that can be completed entirely online. Ohio State upgrades COVID-19 portal

As universities become more sophisticated in how they respond to the pandemic, Ohio State University announced this week it's added additional features to its COVID-19 dashboard. The dashboard, which gives users a view of how the coronavirus is spreading across Ohio, was tweaked to offer a better user experience, as well as the ability to look at data from as far back as the 2020 fall semester. Previously, users only had access to the most recent 20 days of COVID-19 testing data. Read the full story.

On-campus coaches for student success

As universities around the country struggle to retain their students during the remote learning era, California State University, Stanislaus is adopting a service that connects students to nearby coaches who can help them with coursework and other facets of university life. Stanislaus State, an institution with about 8,600 students in California’s Central Valley, announced last week a new partnership with College Possible, a nonprofit that connects high-school and university students with nearby coaches.
