Mississippi State U. creates new role

Mississippi State University announced Monday it’s restructuring its IT department and creating a new chief technology transformation officer position. The university of about 22,000 students created the new position to relieve some of the responsibilities currently held by the university Chief Information Officer Steve Parrott. More 5G on university campuses

A new partnership with AT&T will provide 5G and edge-computing technology to the University of Connecticut’s Stamford campus starting this fall as part of an effort to boost the school’s data-science and entrepreneurial programming, AT&T said Monday. Ryan Johnston has the details.

Purdue U. Global fills position

Purdue University Global announced last week it’s hired Tim Werth — who’s spent the past five years in director roles at Purdue’s flagship campus in West Lafayette, Indiana — as its first vice president of administrative services and chief information officer. Since starting on April 1 at Purdue Global, an online university serving roughly 36,000 adult learners, Werth has been tasked in the newly created role with using technology to support the success of its students.
