U. Wisconsin-Green Bay names new CIO

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on Tuesday announced that it’s hired Wendy Woodward, the former chief information officer of Wheaton College in Illinois, as its new CIO. Woodward, who started in her new role on July 1, has been tasked with modernizing the university’s IT, aligning efforts with the broader University of Wisconsin system and managing enterprise technology, cybersecurity, IT policies, strategic plans, administrative functions and academic support, according to a university press release. The university said she’ll also evaluate the institution’s use of remote-learning technologies. Colin Wood has the details.

Instructure unveils 'Edtech Collective'

Instructure, the edtech company behind the Canvas learning management system, is hoping to spur more collaboration between its more-than 500 company partners through social features and listings on its website. An announcement on Wednesday formalized the “Edtech Collective,” which refers to Instructure’s efforts to bolster community between edtech companies. These efforts include a central, searchable directory of the companies that Instructure works with — like Slack and Zoom — and a new virtual “lounge” where partners can connect. Idaho's public colleges choose platform for course-sharing

Idaho’s eight public colleges and universities are using a new platform to make it easier for students to browse online courses shared between institutions. The new platform’s selection, announced July 8, is the latest step forward in the state education system’s Online Idaho initiative, a multi-year plan to better manage resources and offerings to encourage adult learners to return to school and high school students to continue on to college.
