Arizona State students are teaching high schoolers AWS cloud

Arizona State University students serve as "teaching fellows" on an online cloud computing course for high schoolers, running weekly live sessions for a mainly asynchronous program. The course is designed at a college level and to prep students for Amazon Web Services certification. For many high schoolers, though, this is their first college learning experience. ASU's teaching fellows help guide students through that process. Emily Bamforth explains.

FCC's E-Rate program needs to cover cybersecurity, senators told

During a committee meeting Wednesday, senators discussed expanding the Federal Communications Commission's E-Rate program to cover cybersecurity purchases. E-Rate provides discounts on networking devices and internet subscriptions, but does not cover technology districts can use to defend from cyberattacks. Benjamin Freed reports on StateScoop.

Setting up a gaming "global hub" in NYC

New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced $2 million to fund digital gaming education programs at CUNY, in an effort to boost the city's status in the gaming industry. The mayor's office also announced members of its advisory council this week. Part of the $2 million funds a new bachelors degree in digital game design at CCNY. Emily reports.
