Ensuring quality for postsecondary credentials, digital study tools

On this week’s episode of the Cutting EDge podcast, Digital Pedagogy Lab founder Sean Michael Morris explains how he plans to connect with instructors after his move to edtech company Course Hero. Course Hero is a site designed for students to upload materials so others can benefit. The edtech community, however, has raised concerns about academic integrity and user behavior.

Jobs for the Future’s Stephen Yadzinski discusses the Education Quality Outcomes Standards, a framework for describing student outcomes after taking a course or receiving credentials. JFF plans to offer partners the standards as a tool for evaluating potential partners.

The University of Washington has a new chief information officer. Andreas Bohman, currently leading operations at Central Washington University, will replace retiring CIO Aaron Powell. Powell served as CIO since 2017.

Bowdoin College is lending out laptops to all of its students, in addition to iPads. The announcement is an expansion of an iPad program launched in 2020 that aimed to provide a common set of technology for students and instructors to use in the classroom.

Kentucky has a new discussion platform for faculty and staff across the state’s public institutions to discuss common challenges to student success. The Impact exChange is part of the new Kentucky Student Success Collaborative.
