Missouri university partners with U.S. Cyber Command for AI, cyber research
The University of Missouri-Kansas City announced Thursday that it has entered into a first-of-it’s-kind cooperative research and development agreement with the United State Cyber Command.
Through the partnership, the university and the U.S. Cyber Command will conduct research on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
“This partnership represents a key milestone in demonstrating the technical relevance of UMKC and the Missouri Institute for Defense and Energy’s faculty, staff and students,” Travis Fields, interim director of the Missouri Institute for Defense and Energy at the university, said in a press release. “We are excited to work on research and development cyber solutions for the Department of Defense.”
In addition to research, the partnership seeks to enrich students’ learning experiences at the University of Missouri-Kansas City with guest lectures, access to research facilities and professional internships.
The combination of expertise between the university and the U.S. Cyber Command is anticipated to promote innovation and create a framework for other joint research projects, the release said.
