Vermont State University shelves ‘all-digital’ library plans 

Controversial plans to create an “all-digital” library at Vermont State University are on hold, the Vermont State Colleges System recently announced.

The Vermont State Colleges System announced April 14 that it asked Vermont State University leaders to pause library development plans “pending development of a comprehensive set of recommendations for continued transformation work in the coming weeks.”

Vermont State University is due to officially open in July — merging several college campuses — but its plans for a shared digital library have not been popular with students, faculty or staff.

President Parwinder Grewal announced his resignation last week, citing personal reasons. Former Vermont Agency of Human Services Secretary Michael Smith became interim president this week.
